God’s Will

God has a plan and a purpose for each and every one of us. He has prepared in advance amazing things for us to experience. The problem is, a lot of Christians never allow God to complete his plan in their life. The main reason for this is that they don’t know how to recognize his voice.

The Holy Spirit has been given to us to help us walk in the right direction each and every day. He is a gift from above who leads and guides us and keeps us on the path we should walk on.

Take time with God

Our job is to take time and be sensitive to his voice and direction. We do this by spending time in God’s word and being consistent in praying to God every day.

More times than not, hearing from God will not be with an audible voice. What we will sense is a leading from within. There will be peace or a lack thereof when we are thinking about doing something. There will be a leading to go in a particular direction.

 

Is that You God?

When I first learned that my spirit is one with God, I often wondered if I could hear from him. I wanted to know if the thoughts I had were my own or had come from him.

My one goal is to follow the direction of the Holy Spirit and not my own flesh. I don’t want to get into anything that is not part of God’s plan. This is because it wastes too much time, money, and energy.

 

Act on God’s will

I want to be a vessel that God can use to carry out his will here on earth. I always want to be sure that I’m acting on his will and plan and not my own. I learned quite early that in order to fulfill the plan God had for me, I had to hear him speak to me clearly.

Thankfully, God desires us to hear from him just as much as we desire to hear from him. He wants to lead and direct us in every single area of our life. The Bible is clear in scripture after scripture that the Holy Spirit is there to guide us and to show us things that we do not know.

 

God is your protection

In conjunction with direction, God also wants to provide protection. He doesn’t want to allow the plans of the enemy to knock us off course. He wants to keep us clear of people that should not be in our life. God’s protection is amazing.

God leads us in these ways daily. It could be a sense in our hearts not to drive home the way we normally do. Or perhaps we meet someone, and before we have even really gotten to know them, we sense that we should not have them in our life. Or maybe we plan a vacation and our intent on going to a certain destination but just can’t get peace on going there. All these ways are examples of how the Holy Spirit speaks to us.

 

Don’t be led astray

It is very important to always to be sure that you are hearing from God and not your own senses. You don’t want to be falsely led in the wrong direction. When we think we hear from God there isn’t really any proof other than knowing in our heart if it is right or wrong. One thing we can count on is that the Holy Spirit will not direct us outside of the word of God.

Don’t get me wrong. There are numerous times when I wondered if I was hearing from the Lord or not. I went back and forth wondering if it was God’s spirit speaking to me. Overtime I have gotten better at recognizing that it is him and not just me.

 

Look out for the enemy

The enemy wants us to get outside of God’s plans and purposes for our lives. But God did not leave us by ourselves to fend for ourselves. The Holy Spirit is with us and he will always lead us down the right path. We never have to be afraid of anything or anyone that comes against us.

In every situation, we are more than conquerors. As we spend time in God’s word and commune with your spirit he will clearly show us what is coming and what we should do about it. And as we follow his direction, we will get better and better at recognizing when the Holy Spirit speaks.
